Our story

A people-powered journey born from a shared purpose

The Darchula Jhulunge Pul Project is a people-powered initiative dedicated to providing a safe and reliable river crossing for the communities of Darchula, Nepal. Inspired by unity, voluntary labour (Shramdaan) and public participation, the project demonstrates what citizens can achieve when they come together around a shared purpose.

The project was initiated under the leadership of Harka Sampang with a vision to replace unsafe river crossings and improve access to education, healthcare, markets and essential services for people living in remote areas.

Driven by the collective effort of volunteers, supporters, engineers and local communities, the bridge has become a symbol of hope, cooperation and self-reliance. Every contribution, every hour of voluntary labour and every helping hand strengthens not only the bridge, but also the bond among the people of Nepal.
